This year the annul 4 day festival was one of the best ever! Thanks in part to the advertising on Facebook. There were hundreds of family reunions with guest coming from across America & Italy. During the lead up to the Sunday Festival in Centennial Park were; food & wine tasting, Italian Cinema, Boch Ball tournament, & more. This year the GaYBOR District Coalition were honard to be volunteers working a beer tent. During the day long event there were; strolling musicians, a full main stage, carnival rides for the kids, A parade, wine stopping & FOOD,FOOD & MORE FOOD. Towards the end of the day the heavens opened up and it poured rain. the GaYBOR volunteers didn’t leave their post and contunied to searve during the rain. After the evnt the GaYBOR Coalition volunteers hade their ouw festival at Hamburgar Mary’s & Streetcar Charlie’s. Thanks to the Ritz & Alan K for our battle cry ”Towaka”
After 2 years almost to the day Spurs is changing hands. Owners Kevin & Jeff, threw an increadble “Last Dance Party!” The dance floor was packed with cowgirls & cowboys. Off the floor the was talk of many found memories over cold beer. Kevin & Jeff will definalty be missed in GaYBOR. Spurs many be leaving but music is not leaving…… Deb Hunseder & Steph Callahan of the group Halcyon http://www.facebook.com/pages/Halcyon/63506986809?v=info will be opening a new club here. After some renovations to add their special touch , there will be live music here in GaYBOR. With all the friends the girls have made over the years you just know this is going to be GREAT!!! One fun personal story about Halcyon.This past years after the Night parade we stopped at Spurs and halcyon were performing. We have photos taken with the girls and a good time that night. Later that week some friends our in North Carolina wrote the there was a whole story in the local newspaper about the Night parade & our photo with Halcyon was in it!! What a fun crazy small world we all live in! WELCOME to GaYBOR HALCYON!!!!
After the John Dingfelder reception we decided to take a drive of South Tampa establishmnents. First stop was City Side. There were many familiar faces around the bar. Bar owner Billy and manager Jimmy were busy chatting it up with the patrons. We were susprised to run into old friends from Ft. Lauderdale up for the weekend. Next stop was the Rainbow Room. WOW!!!! can these girls PARTY!!!! There was karaoke ago go, The Famous International Psychic “Madam DJ”, great drink specials, pool table & the best volleyball courts in Tampa! We can not wait to go back soon. Next was on to one of our favorite stops… Chelsea Nightclub. As we entered, owner Nikki was right at the door to greet us. Now here is a party!!!! Hot dancers,(Mica, Stevie) a drag show featuring Diva Amy Demilo and 2 new comers. Some of the performers were performing in Spanish with wild attire. With the weather finally turning back to normal spring temps, now is the time to enjoy Chelsea’s wonderful large outdoor patio. We can’t wait for the next cook out there! With changing times a couple of our swimwear and underwear lines have done a cross over. Unico Underwear has added to their underwear line new fashion swimwear and boardshorts. Pistol Pete known for their great designer swimwear and shirts have now introduced a new underwear group to their increasing clothing line. So it is spring, the beach weather is at hand and a lot of new colorful swim suit designs are in stock at MC FILM. Oh and don’t forget the newly arrived rainbow beach towels! www.MCFILMFEST.com
The next GaYBOR District Coalition meeting is Friday, April 9th at 4:00 at Streetcar Charlie’s. This is a GLBTA coalition of businesses and residents from around Tampa Bay. Plans for the summer events including, Gay Days at Disney, St. Pete Pride and the full week of gay events in July at GaYBOR Days. Great networking and all residents and businesses are welcome to attend.
