Orlando Marriott hosted the OUT (Organizations United Together) www.OUTFL.org. Statewide Leadership Conference. With over 80 GLBT&A statewide non profit organizations sharing and exchanging valuable state & federal resources. There are about a dozen organizations from the Tampa Bay area involved with OUT. Tampa’s own Ted Howard, Executive Dir. of OUT, facilitated the day long conference. State candidates running for office were there for a meet and greet session including Kevin Burns for US Senate, Dave Aronberg running for Florida Attorney General, Senator Dan Gelber running for Florida Attorney General and State Representative Kelly Skidmore. Gay Adoptions seminars were also debated with a panel including SOCR (Securing Our Children’s Rights) www.socrflorida.org board member, Cathy James. GaYBOR District Coalition officers attending included Pres. Carrie West, co-sec Rich Kerin and treasurer John Gorman.
Ybor City neighborhood associations are working to create a brand new website (name to be announced soon) dedicated to telling the world what’s so great about living in Ybor City and we want your stories. Come on and tell us your stories!

Hi Mark, Hi Carrie,
The fair officials are holding a talent search every day (see attached flyer) during the Florida State Fair (Feb 4-15) and want to showcase from 12-12:30 female/male impersonators that impersonate someone ‘famous’. The impersonators aren’t part of the contest, they are the intermission entertainment.
I am coming to you to help me get the word out and fill these slots. Please forward this to anyone you know who would be a good candidate for this task.
What I get out of it is 1) the Chelsea’s name mentioned on Jamn106 throughout the day, and 2) the chance to show people that female impersonation is an art, and one to be respected like any other art - which is how I promote it at the Chelsea.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer, Teacup!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Evenings with the Maestro: Character Roles in Opera
February’s edition of the St. Petersburg Opera’s popular Evening with the Maestro series will examine the “character” roles in opera, such as jailers, servants, and villains. Maestro Mark Sforzini has lined up a number of musical examples, which will be sung by frequent SPO artist Joseph Ryan and by Rolando Sanz. Mr. Ryan, a baritone, was featured as Rapunzel’s prince in SPO’s Into the Woods and has participated in the Emerging Artist Program. Mr. Sanz was the first place winner in the 2009 Florida Suncoast Opera Guild’s Young Professionals competition and has won first place in the Orange County district Metropolitan Opera auditions. A tenor, Mr. Sanz will be making his Carnegie Hall debut on February 9, 2010 and has been garnering rave reviews for his appearances throughout the U.S.
The presentation will be at the Music Gallery, 5990 Ulmerton Road, Clearwater, at 6:00 p.m. on February 4, 2010.
Each of these first Thursday of the month lectures addresses a different theme to enhance your understanding of opera and of music in general and lasts approximately 90 minutes. Following the program, the audience is invited to join the Maestro and the cast for conversation and refreshments at a local restaurant. Details will be announced at the performance. Tickets are $10 ($5 seniors and students) and are available in advance on the St. Petersburg opera website, www.stpeteopera.org or by calling the office at 727-823-2040. All tickets at the door will be $10. High resolution photos available upon request.
