Subj: Ferlita Macaroni Factory building
I would also like to thank all of the public who attended and spoke in favor of saving the building. It is extremely difficult, in these trying economical times, for people to take time off from their busy schedules and work to do something positive for something so worthy of our attention.
Lastly, and certainly not least, I would like to give thanks and appreciation to the Barrio Latino Commission for their difficult task of carrying out the duties of their volunteer positions as caretakers of our wonderful historic district buildings. I’ve never served on the Barrio Latino Commission, but I’m sure it is a thankless task. Their decisions greatly affect all of us and with every decision, there is probably always someone who walks away feeling as though they’ve been treated unfairly. As the years pass by, my appreciation for this body has grown considerably as has my love and appreciation for this wonderful place called Ybor City.
We must find the right solution for The Ferlita Macaroni Factory, one that is right for the building and right for the community. Thank you, Don Barco

TAMPA BAY HOSTS MAJOR NETWORK TV PILOT
Fox Television Studios recently filmed portions of a TV pilot, Sugarloaf, in the Tampa Bay area. Fox hopes to develop Sugarloaf as a series shot entirely in the Tampa Bay area.
“This production brought an infusion of economic impact into the Bay area in just a week’s time,” said Film Commission Manager, Lindsey Guthrie. “Imagine the impact a TV series such as this would have on our local economy. This couldn’t come at a better time.”
Crabby Bill’s Beach Club and Morris Bridge Wilderness Park, part of Hillsborough County’s parks system, were featured locations in Hillsborough County. Additional locations included a Pinellas County golf course, a private home in the Broadwater neighborhood and the Crystal Springs Roller Rink.
If picked up, the series would run on the A&E network beginning summer 2010 and would tell the story of a Chicago cop who moves to Florida to play golf and winds up working as a troubleshooter for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
The Tampa Bay Film Commission works closely with Tampa Bay & Company and community partners to market Tampa as a premiere destination for film and commercial production.
